Osteolink – Better Conversations, Better Bones

H+K Strategies is proud to be the communications agency for OsteoLink, the first social network dedicated to people who live with osteoporosis.  Working on behalf of the International Osteoporosis Foundation (IOF), in partnership with the University of Geneva, H+K Strategies are charged with creating a dynamic community dedicated to improving osteoporosis communication.

In 2009, commissioned a multinational survey of over 1,600 women with osteoporosis and healthcare providers across 12 European countries and Australia which showed significant gaps in the way people who live with osteoporosis and HCPs communicate.  OsteoLink is designed to address these needs, driving conversation on line and in person, with a goal of better overall management of osteoporosis at the patient level, and the prioritisation of osteoporosis on the European health agenda.

Pilot OsteoLink communities are now live in Austria, Sweden, Switzerland and Australia. Following a global media launch in March, 2011, early results exceeded expectations with over 2,700 unique users, over 60 active discussion threads with over 100 comments on Austria and Sweden in the first two months. The OsteoLink conversation has started with discussions about diagnosis, prevention, treatment, exercise, diet, and hobbies.  H+K Strategies continues to support the growth of OsteoLink through on-going engagement activities in pilot countries with new online and in-person communities coming soon in Greece and Portugal.
