Training @H+K Strategies' Hub

The Hub, H+K Strategies’ new skills academy, puts training at the heart of agency life. It underlines the need for us all to keep learning and developing every day in order to deliver outstanding client service.

We focus on five key skill areas: writing; media relations; creativity; presenting and business management.

Our faculty is headed by Peter Lawlor, Dean of the Hub, who works in partnership with other senior professionals around the agency to design and deliver a valuable, experience-based programme.

To help our people balance client service with their own development needs we have made The Hub training as accessible as possible. Each skill area has been sub-divided into bite-sized modules most of which run for 2.5 to 3 hours.

Modules run every day, for ten months of the year, spread over three ‘terms’. They are taught in a dedicated training suite, also called The Hub, on 7th floor.

Feedback is strongly encouraged and we have been delighted by the response so far, both in terms of praise and points for development. Training itself needs to keep on developing if it is to remain relevant and effective.

The Hub curriculum is designed to synchronise with H+K Strategies' staffing levels, so it is divided into three levels:

  • Client Executive (JAE – Senior Account Exec)
  • Client Manager (Account Manager / Senior Account Manager)
  • Client Director (Account Director / Senior Account Director)

We believe this is a unique approach to training within any agency and is quickly establishing itself as part of daily life at H+K Strategies. Several teams have already used The Hub to host their own training. And in response to requests from support staff, a ‘summer school’ is being planned that will offer software skills training and an introduction to public relations.
