Delivering a political and communications campaign for the expansion of London City Airport

London City Airport called on Hill+Knowlton Strategies to deliver a political and communications campaign for its successful interim planning application and its Master Plan for the expansion of airport capacity from 2.5 million passengers per year to 10 million passengers per year by 2030.

Interim planning permission was granted in October 2008, with the Master Plan being put forward in the new year. The value of the entire project is likely to be several hundred million pounds.

H+K Strategies provided an integrated stakeholder engagement programme targeting political, media and policy audiences at a local, regional and national level. The campaign focused on the benefit of expansion in terms of competitiveness, greater value and choice and limited environmental impact. The project involved the co-ordination of communications and political advice and activity with advice on planning, environmental and economic impact.
